Pekalongan, Thursday, February 9, 2023 – In pursuit of achieving the Key Performance Indicators (IKU-PTNBH) of Diponegoro University, particularly in fostering collaboration with health institution stakeholders to support the university’s Tri Dharma principles, the Master of Public Health Program (MKM) at the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) of Diponegoro University (Undip) has initiated discussions on potential collaborations with the Health Offices of Pekalongan City and Pekalongan Regency. This initiative was carried out through a series of visits by the MKM program management team to both health offices on February 9, 2023.

The first visit was to the Pekalongan City Health Office, where the team was welcomed by the Head of the Health Office, Dr. Slamet Budiyanto, SKM, M.Kes, along with several staff members. Dr. Slamet Budiyanto is an alumnus of the Master of Public Health Science program (now known as the Master of Public Health program) at Undip. During the meeting, the MKM program management team presented various forms of collaboration in education, research, and community service, involving students, faculty members, and the health office. Additionally, as the 2023/2024 academic year approaches, the team informed the health office about the new student enrollment period, which runs from February to June. They also encouraged staff members of the Pekalongan City Health Office to apply for the MKM program through either the general admission process or a partnership scheme.

The Pekalongan City Health Office responded positively to this initiative. The Head of the Health Office expressed strong support for potential collaboration in the Tri Dharma areas and emphasized the importance of human resource development through further studies at the master’s level. At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed to follow up on the discussion and work towards formalizing the collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The next visit was to the Pekalongan Regency Health Office, where the MKM program management team was received by the Head of the Health Office, Setiawan Dwi Antoro, SKM, M.Kes, and his staff. Like his counterpart in the city, Setiawan Dwi Antoro is also an alumnus of the Master of Public Health Science program at Undip. During the visit, the team presented similar collaboration opportunities and discussed the potential for capacity building through postgraduate education for the staff of the Pekalongan Regency Health Office.
